Just what does this mean? It means the Active Body Team cares about you and wants to see you reach your true potential! Do you need to get into good physical and cardiovascular shape? Are you training for a triathlon, marathon or mountain race? We have experienced trainers and instructors offering one on one instruction and a wide variety of classes including; group cycle, yoga, pilates, strength training, rip 60 and more.


Meet the Trainers

Kate Arnold

Kate has a certified personal training license from The American Fitness Institute, a Cycling Certification previously through Spinning and a current Cycling Certification through American Sports and Fitness Institute. She has an Ironman Coaching Certification through Ironman University that covers basic to advanced fitness, training plans, sports nutrition and body mechanics. Kate has competed in 6 Half Marathons, 2 full Marathons, a full Ironman and has recently joined the sport of ultra-running. Kate is also a sponsored ambassador for the footwear company Topo Athletics as well as a team athlete for Active Soles Performance Footwear. Kate teaches strength and conditioning classes at Active Body and is open for personal training sessions.

Alisa Kincaid

Alisa is a Certified Triathlon Coach with over 8 years of experience as a personal trainer and fitness instructor with a strong back ground in swimming. She has been in competitive sports for over 10 years including sprint, Olympic, half and full Ironman triathlons, ultra-running and mountain runs. Alisa was born and raised in Alaska and enjoys an active lifestyle in the outdoors with her husband and three sons.

Carla Vizzerra

Carla was born and raised in Anchorage, AK. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Oregon State University; she continued on to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon to attain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2004. Carla moved to Palmer in 2011 to work at Body In Balance Physical Therapy and is absolutely loving being a part of Palmer and its wonderful community.

Carla has always had a passion for health and nutrition and giving the body an environment to thrive. She began a great love for running and outdoor activity in her 20s and has since completed many half marathons and trail runs such as the awesome Lost Lake Run. Carla also enjoys hiking, back packing and admiring the absolute outdoor beauty Alaska has to offer with her husband and three girls. She began teaching strength and aerobic classes while enrolled at Oregon State and currently teaches cycling class Monday evenings at Active Body. Carla; `I absolutely love motivating people and watching them reach levels that they didn't believe possible'.

Deanna Arthur

My name is Deanna and I am honored to share a bit of my background with you. I have been in the health fitness field 25+ years and, although I have a Masters in Education with endorsements in physical and health education, I believe my continued education has been the largest influence in my life today. Getting certified as a personal trainer and SPINNING instructor has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and to help them effect change in their lives. In an effort to continuously improve my life as well as the quality of life for others, I most recently earned my Certification in Plant Based Nutrition and went on to take Nutrition for a Healthy Heart, both through Cornell University.

My hope is to be a lifelong learner, to leave the world a better place through my day-to-day living, and to positively impact the lives of those I am fortunate enough to touch.

Anne Thomas

Anne’s journey to Palmer covers several continents. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, she completed a BA in Biology in Indiana and then a BSc in Physical Therapy in Aberdeen, Scotland. Since completing her physical therapy degree she has become a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, completed an orthopedic residency program through the Ola Grimsby Institute and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Pedorthist. When not in the clinic, Anne enjoys outdoors adventures with her husband and two boys.

Annie Oula

Hey everybody! I'm Annie, and I teach OULA - Dancemania for the Soul. I've been teaching for about three years now, after stumbling upon an OULA class in Missoula, Montana and falling in love with it right away. Despite never having taken any sort of dance or group fitness class and being totally uncoordinated and out-of-shape, I knew from that very first class that OULA was something special. It made me feel completely free, happy, and comfortable in my own skin. To me, OULA is as much about emotional release as it is about getting an amazing workout!

I am also certified in OULA-Power, which is a strength/conditioning class that focuses on empowerment, not competition.

When I'm not dancing around the studio or my kitchen, I love to be outside as much as I possibly can! I love hiking, camping, kayaking, and mindless wandering through the trees. I also love to read and make messy art.

Randy Bendie

My name is Randy Bendle and I am a personal trainer here at Active Body Downtown Gym. I have been a trainer off and on for the past 15 years and really enjoy all that training has provided me. I love working out and helping others reach their goals. I have a beautiful family with whom I love spending time with and I love all sports especially football and roller derby. I have played football sporadically for the last 20 years and recently played football for a football team here in the valley.

Halie Montanez

I've lived in Alaska my whole life and feel so blessed to live here with my husband! I love to hike, rock climb, slackline and do yoga! I love being active and being outside! That's why I enjoy yoga so much, because you can do it anywhere! I am a certified 200RYT yoga instructor. I am certified in Hatha yoga which is alignment based yoga. But I enjoy teaching and doing a wide variety of yoga! I love sharing yoga with everyone and that's the best part, yoga is for everyone!

Laurie Pratt

BA/BS Univ of MD, Certified Pilates Instructor, LMT, Yoga Instructor, Holistic Health Coach.

Love for dance and movement motivated me to pursue the science and art of movement, which brought me to the art and biophysics of the Pilates Methodology. Through this method of training, I have witnessed transformation that most would not expect to achieve by ordinary means: balance, mind/body awareness, flexibility, core strength and circulation. Yoga and Thai Massage bring balance to the practice with breath, concentration and energy flow. Seeing the power of this practice that changes lives for the better fuels my passion for working with people. I am dedicated to helping others achieve their optimum health, happiness and wholeness.

Background: U of MD BA/BS Dance / Pre med I have been certified through nationally accredited agencies since 1992. ACE* AAFA*ISSA *Power Pilates NYC 1998 * Hatha Yoga CT 2001 * Thai massage 2002 + 2008 training in Thailand * Graduate of Institute of Integrative Nutrition 2011.

I am currently a certified Pilates Instructor and LMT in Alaska and a provider for CEU’s through NCBTMB and for the Yoga Alliance.

Kristin Wolf

Kristin has completed multiple endurance bike races as a soloist completing races as long as 525 miles. She is the current women’s record holder of the Fireweed 400. Her classes reflect her experience as an endurance athlete and competitive cyclist. The philosophy of her class is based on personalized training programs for athletes to optimize their performance and incorporates a field test to establish each participants individual training zones.

Kristin is a professional counselor working for the Mat-Su School District. She has a background in mountaineering, cross-country skiing, and endurance running. She was a former coach for the local Valley Women’s Running Team. Kristin received her Spinning instructor certification through Mad Dogg Athletics in 2005 and has taught indoor cycling classes at Body in Balance (now Active Body) ever since!

Marina Mon

Marina Mon is a physical therapist and yoga instructor. She is originally from the deep south of Louisiana and as she moved North, she found the practice of yoga to offer her a challenge to find more balance, strength and focus. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training at Anchorage Yoga and is thrilled to be a part of the Active Body Downtown Gym community!
